The Stride Formation Release – at home hockey training tips

Today’s tip is going to focus on the lower body in what is called the stride formation release. The player shown below is right handed so when he shoots his right leg goes back and the majority of the weight gets transfered to the left leg.

The stride formation is the basis to all other types of shots because it provides stability, power and allows the player to shoot in stride when they perfect the technique.

It also encourages the player to get low and finish towards the net. This is the first type of release a player should master !

*Note that for a left handed shot the left leg goes back and the weight is transfered to the right leg*
